Q: I'm coming to KMT for TrimPro training. Do I need to bring my own PC?
A: Yes, you should bring your own PC with TrimPro loaded on it. This can be a fully registered version or the trial version. The PC should be configured as follows:
See the following FAQ item if you don't have a PC.
Q: My system is shipping in four weeks. Do I need to be trained before my system ships?
A: No. In fact, if you are trained weeks prior to your ship date your retention will likely be diminished. We have found that the best learning occurs with students who have had some rudimentary hands-on experience with the robot before coming to training. However, if there are no open training dates in the timeframe you are looking for, we may be able to accomodate you. Click here for more information.
A: The first day of class starts at 9:00. Class is usually out by 4:00 PM. On Fridays, class is out by noon to facilitiate travel plans.
Q: Do you have a waiting list?
A: Yes. Please contact us to be added to it. Use the Questions/Comments field to reference our waiting list.
Q: What's the difference between Accuracy Enhancement Tools and System Calibration Tools?
A: Accuracy Enhancement (AE) Tools is for robotic systems that contain the utilities called TCPMate and CalMate. System Calibration (SC) Tools is for robotic systems that contain utilities called TCPCal and CellCal. On your teach pendant, press MENU, then UTILITIES, and then F1 [TYPE] and see which utilities you have installed on your system.
Q: How soon should I take Maintenance classes?
A: We recommend waiting at least six months from your system ship date before taking a maintenance class.
Q: Are there any personal safety protection (PSP) requirements at KMT?
A: Safety glasses are required in some areas of the building. KMT will provide these. No other PSP equipment is required.
Q: I'm coming to a TrimPro class but I don't have a laptop. Do you have one I can use?
A: Please contact us; we may have one for your use. Also note that you don't have to bring a laptop; if you have TrimPro installed on a desktop bring your tower and we'll provide a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Q: What kind of guarantee do you offer?
A; If you are not satisfied with the training you receive we will refund your money. Also, you are welcome to return to take the same class again at no charge if you feel you need a refresher. This must be the same student, the same class, and is based on availability. The student is responsible for travel and living expenses.
Q: Do you ever train at the customer's site?
A: Yes, we do. We don't think it's as meaningful as training done here at KMT but we can accommodate you if needed. Please contact us for more information about on-site training. Use the Questions/Comments field to indicate your interest in on-site training.
Q: Can I access the internet while attending training?
A: Yes. We have a customer room with computers with internet access for your use at KMT. You will not be able to access the internet wirelessly with your own PC but you are welcome to use the PC's we provide.
Q: What should I bring with me to training?
A: Nothing really is needed unless you're coming for a TrimPro class. We provide manuals, paper to write on and pens. For our programming classes, you may wish to bring a USB thumb drive, or a compact flash card so that you can take home backups of programs you create at KMT. Also, your instructor can provide you with printouts of programs you create, or he/she can email you these programs if desired.
Q: Do you provide food/refreshments?
A: We have complimentary coffee and tea for our training students. Students are on their own for lunch; there is a variety of restaurants within just a few miles of KMT. Vending machines which contain Coke and Pepsi products as well as juice and bottled water are available.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: We ask that you not wear shorts, sleeveless shirts, or sandals/flip flops.
Q: Will I have to pass a test at the end of training?
A: No. We do give a pre-test on the first day of class and a post-test on the last day of class. This test is just to measure how much you learned during the week. There is no passing grade required.
